Where does your pay-TV dollar go?

Cable and satellite TV companies like to say that they are being “gouged” by the cost of retransmission consent fees.

But a closer look at the facts reveals that broadcast signals account for only 2% of consumers pay-TV bills.  Meanwhile, pay-TV companies continue to increase record profits at the expense of consumers.

We believe that consumers deserve more openness and transparency on their cable and satellite bills, with a more detailed breakdown of each cost, in order to make rational economic choices.

Arbitrarily singling out the cost of broadcast TV programming, while hiding the cost of cable channels is misleading consumers about what is driving up their cable bill.
